God the Creator
I like to draw and paint, and I like to make a fort.
I like to build with legos, and make things of every sort.
Sometimes I draw animals, or paint a pretty sky,
Sometimes I build castles, or crazy things that fly!
I learned that God creates a lot, He likes to make ALL things!
He made flowers, fish and animals, and every bird that sings.
He even made the earth, all the oceans and the sun.
He makes bugs and bears and crocodiles – that’d be SO much fun!
God’s very good at what He makes, and He does it really fast!
He made the world in seven days, and He rested on the last.
He made giraffes with such long necks, and elephants and fleas,
He made mountains, coral reefs and seaweed in the seas.
How He did that, I don’t know, I may never understand.
He made every living creature in the sea and on the land!
God made me to be creative, and He’s glad I draw and paint.
I love God so much, I want to be His little Saint!
I Wish I had a Puppy
I wish I had a puppy,
I would play with him all day.
I think I’ll ask my mom for one.
I wonder what she’ll say?
Or maybe I would like a cat
To chase a ball of yarn.
I’d also like a goat or sheep,
But then I’d need a barn.
Hamsters would be soft and cute
But they’re a bit too small.
A giraffe would be a lot of fun
But it would be too tall!
If my home was in Australia
I would like a kangaroo
I’d put a tree inside my house
And keep koalas too!
If I could have a lion cub
I’d have to lock the door,
Or it would scare the neighbors
Every time they heard it roar.
An alligator might be fun
But I would need a pool.
Then I could get a hippo too,
My friends would think I’m cool!
I’d like to have an elephant
If it was just a baby.
But it would grow up fast,
So a zebra’s better, maybe.
Penguins would be really cute
But I’d need a block of ice.
I’d also want a polar bear,
If it promised to be nice.
A parrot is so colorful –
I would want one that could talk
If I had a bird cage big enough,
I would also get a hawk!
If I can’t sleep, and want a friend
I could get a pet racoon,
And an owl, and a possum
And we’d play beneath the moon.
If I had a pond with rocks
I’d have an otter and some seals.
But then I’d need to fish all day
To catch enough for all their meals.
My ideas for a pet
Might be more than I can do.
So instead I’ll ask my parents
If they’ll take me to the zoo!
The Christmas Lamb
Listen well, if you are able,
It’s the story of a little lamb
Who lived inside a stable.
It was a long, long time ago
On a chilly, starry night.
There was a very special star
That was unusually bright!
The little lamb was sleeping
Til he heard an angel sing,
And awoke to see a baby
With his parents, and a king!
There was more than just one king,
There were 3 – and camels too!
The little lamb was so surprised,
He did not know what to do!
The donkey told him, “don’t be scared”,
It’s a special baby boy!
God sent him here to love us all
And bring the world new joy!
The shepherds were all kneeling
Heaven was rejoicing
It was such a happy feeling!
The lamb felt very special
To be in the barn that day
He learned the Son of God
Was laying in the hay!
He felt like he was dreaming,
But everything was true!
He didn’t understand it all,
But there was one thing that he knew-
The baby born that night,
Would save the world from sin,
So every heart on earth
should invite Him to come in!
Monsters in my Closet
Sometimes when I’m lying snuggled in my bed
I imagine, and I see some scary stories in my head.
Is there something in my closet? Did I hear a funny noise?
What if there’s a monster who is playing with my toys?
Mom tells me not to worry, and she hopes I’ll fall asleep
She says I’ll be just fine, I try not to make a peep.
But I’m not sure that I’ll be safe, so I turn on every light.
And I run into my parent’s room, every single night!
Today I learned about the angels who are watching over me.
God sent them to protect and guard, wherever I may be!
There’s nothing that can hurt me when I go to sleep each night
Jesus and his angels, stay right with me, close and tight!
It’s not just when I’m sleeping that I’m wrapped in God’s great care,
It’s all day long, inside and out, up, down and everywhere!
Turns out mom was right, and what she said was really true.
God’s angels are around me, no matter what I do!
God is My Helper
Since I’ve gotten big and strong.
I help at home, inside and out,
I’m needed all day long!
I can stir a bowl of cookie dough,
And wash the dishes too.
I water plants and sweep the floor,
And that’s not all I do!
I can carry heavy things,
And I can wipe and clean a spill.
I can dig and plant a garden.
If I’m asked to help, I will!
It’s fun to help the grownups,
It makes me feel so good.
But sometimes I don’t want to help,
Even though I should.
If I’m busy with my toys,
Or playing with a friend-
If I want to stay outside,
I don’t want my fun to end.
So I have to say a prayer.
A good choice is hard to make,
And it sometimes feels unfair.
I say, “Jesus help me”,
When I get a little mad.
I say, “Help me to be good”,
If I feel like being bad.
I ask God to change my heart,
And He helps me find a way –
To do my best and do what’s right,
Each and every day.
Hooray for God! I feel His love.
He made me big and strong.
He’s the one who taught me
To help others all day long!
Psalm 118:7
The Lord is with me; he is my helper.
